The Situation As VoxStream Analytics grew its user base, its core audio processing infrastructure began to crack under the pressure. The engineering team was consistently bogged down by sluggish build times, making iterative testing a frustrating and time-consuming process. They needed a robust solution to optimize their deployment pipeline and improve the efficiency of their underlying C++ transcription engine.
Our Approach We began by auditing their entire build and deployment process. The biggest initial win came from overhauling their build system. By migrating their configurations to a modernized CMake setup and properly utilizing parallel compilation strategies across their server clusters, we drastically reduced the time developers spent waiting for code to compile.
Once the pipeline was flowing smoothly, we turned our attention to the transcription engine itself. We implemented several highly optimized open-source libraries, ensuring that the heavy lifting of the audio processing was handled as close to the metal as possible.
The Outcome The impact on the engineering team's velocity was immediate. Features that previously took weeks to test and deploy were shipping in days. More importantly, the end-user experience improved dramatically, with transcription results returning nearly twice as fast during peak usage hours.
